Hard times calls for drastic measures:
With fundraising and advertising at an all time low, the “Great Recession” has devastated most of Umbrella Radio’s revenue streams. Like any business when expenses out way revenue, drastic measures have to be taken to assure continued operations. Live programming is the first to take a hit. Currently, field productions like “Acoustic Baltimore” have already been halted. After our December broadcasting break our flagship program “The Audiophile” will be cancelled along with other syndicated programming. Other programs to follow as the belt tightens.

Umbrella Radio is a nonprofit community based cooperative internet streaming radio station serving the communities of North Baltimore and the world. Our audio stream broadcasts original indie music, poetry, local arts and community based programming twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Umbrella Radio has 62 hours of continous indie music. So much music in fact, you’ll never hear the same thing twice within a 24 hour period. Enjoy our local original content no matter where in the world you are. About our QuickTime Stream
Our QuickTime based mpeg audio is streaming to you at a sampling rate of 112 kbits per second at 32.000 kHz in 16 bit Stereo. The audio stream is best heard on Broadband using the latest version of QuickTime Player. Through our bandwidth service provider, East Bay Media, we can similtaneously stream to 1,000 people an hour.
